    For many heads of small businesses, judgment the time and effort to develop business marketing strategies is difficult. There are so many other obligations vying for our attention it is tempting to push formal strategy development in the background. Giving into this temptation, however, means putting the company at a disadvantage. Marketing strategies will help point toward the best marketing campaigns for the company. Without strategies, you are in danger of becoming blurred marketing methods; choose the programs that do not support general strategies.

     

    To be the most effective marketing strategies should be integrated into your marketing plan (which in turn is part of the business plan). By combining the strategies of its company-wide plans, you can better achieve the objectives of the company. In addition, over time this will lead to more consistent decision making throughout the party.

     

    Integration of marketing strategies in the marketing plan

    A marketing plan is the same structure as a business, but with a narrower field. Marketing plans include the overall goals, marketing strategies and marketing programs, each progressively narrower.

In general, the objective of the marketing plan answers the question “How do I overcome my main marketing challenge.  If a company has a new web-based business, for example, the biggest challenge may be to understand how to use the website to build your business better. The objective, therefore, may be “To improve the online customer service and build awareness and interest of the site with our customers.”

     

    Marketing strategies to your goal. The strategies define general approaches you need to reach your goal. For example, marketing strategies to support the above objective could include: 1) to improve online communication, information and education, responsiveness and interest in your business over the Internet, and 3) communicate the existence of website and the benefits to existing customers.

     

    The programs are the things you do to bring your marketing strategies to life. Program Strategy 2 in the above example (improve online communication, information and training) could be 1) sharing of experiences and observations in your industry, participating in discussion forums, 2) offer a newsletter, and 3) list / report of its site to targeted search engines and directories.

     

    Keeping your company’s marketing strategies in mind when you first choose marketing programs, then adjustments throughout the year based on these strategies, you can build a better basis on which businesses can grow.
